The Twisted Tbug is a bespoke restomod from the UK’s Twisted Automotive — best known for reimagining classic Land Rover Defenders. Inspired by the 1960s Baja Bug movement, it takes a vintage Volkswagen Beetle and transforms it into a rugged, off-road-ready machine with unmistakable retro charm. The car features a strengthened chassis, lifted long-travel suspension, chunky BF Goodrich tyres, and modern LED lighting, all wrapped around the familiar Beetle silhouette with flared fenders and a stripped-back aesthetic. Power comes from a rebuilt air-cooled flat-four engine producing just under 80 horsepower — modest, but true to the car’s original character.

Inside, each Tbug is hand-finished to order, with custom upholstery, minimalist instrumentation, and a focus on tactile driving engagement rather than outright performance. Twisted calls it “honest and simple,” emphasizing the connection between driver, machine, and terrain. While pricing hasn’t been announced, the brand’s reputation for craftsmanship suggests a premium cost and extremely limited production. The Tbug is less about speed and more about spirit — a joyful fusion of nostalgia, craftsmanship, and modern refinement for those who love the quirky soul of the classic Beetle.
