Barely Driven Ferrari 499P Modificata Heads To Auction For Over $8 Million

This 2024 Ferrari 499P Modificata stays factory-fresh, tied to Sport Prototipi Clienti rather than converted from a Le Mans prototype.

Christie's has put a 2024 Ferrari 499P Modificata under the hammer for its Geneva auction next month. The track-only hypercar comes from the same program that delivered back-to-back overall wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 and 2024, and Christie's lists an estimate in excess of CHF 7,500,000 (about $8,250,000).

The car in question has never been driven beyond its factory shakedown. That detail alone sets it apart from most race-bred Ferraris that reach auction. Bidders get a vehicle with the pedigree of a Hypercar class winner but without a single competitive mile on its odometer, a rare combination for anyone chasing both provenance and a car in essentially new condition.

The listing covers one of the very small number of 499P Modificata cars Ferrari built as a track-only, client-facing derivative of its Le Mans-winning prototype. It debuted at the 2023 Ferrari Finali Mondiali at Mugello and has stayed closely tied to the factory ever since.

Under the bodywork sits a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 paired with a 268-horsepower electric motor, for a nominal combined output of 697 horsepower. A "Push to Pass" function adds another 161 horsepower for up to seven seconds, pushing total output to 858 horsepower on demand.

Ferrari caps the car's speed at roughly 118 miles per hour, a figure set deliberately low given the car never turns a wheel on public roads. The cockpit and ergonomics carry over unchanged from the race car.

The Racing Prototype It Comes From

The 499P Modificata is derived directly from the 499P, the Hypercar that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023 and 2024. The racing prototype remains an active part of Ferrari's Hypercar program in late 2026, with factory entries continuing in FIA World Endurance Championship events such as the 6 Hours of Barcelona.

Ownership of a 499P Modificata comes with access to Ferrari's Sport Prototipi Clienti program, introduced in 2024 and first run at Mugello that March. The program lets owners drive their cars on track under factory supervision rather than taking delivery outright. That structure explains why this particular example has logged nothing beyond a shakedown.

Ferrari expects to keep the car at its Maranello facilities through December 2028, consistent with how the client program is designed to operate.

Antonello Coletta, Ferrari's Head of GT Sporting Activities, called the Modificata a tribute to Ferrari's past and a manifesto for its future when the car debuted. For buyers, the 499P Modificata sits alongside other Ferrari client-racer projects, including the 296 GT Modificata, within the brand's factory-managed, track-only lineup that trades public-road use for organized events run by Ferrari.
