Earlier this year, there was a rumor that Nissan would axe the Altima after 2026. The automaker quickly dispelled the speculation, promising a 2027 model, and today Nissan announced it is now on sale, but with a slightly higher price tag.
The entry-level, front-wheel-drive 2027 Altima SV now starts at $29,065, including the unchanged $1,275 destination charge from 2026. That’s $210 more than before, and you can no longer add all-wheel drive to the base trim.
Instead, buyers will have to opt for the more expensive, top-tier Altima SR that starts at $30,465, and select the $1,500 option. Nissan is not offering any special edition trims yet, like the SR Midnight Edition (all pricing includes destination).

2027 Altima: All The Specs

The 2027 Nissan Altima comes standard with the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as before. It produces 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, but those numbers drop to 182 hp and 178 lb-ft when the sedan has all-wheel drive.
The engine pairs with Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission, which helps its fuel economy. The 2027 Altima returns up to an estimated 26 miles per gallon in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 30 miles per gallon combined in FWD models.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with remote engine start. Options include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and wireless phone charging.

The SR comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss-black trim, exhaust finishers, and carbon-fiber trim. The front-wheel-drive SR gets a sport suspension, while paddle shifters are standard. Here's what you get:
- Engine – 2.5-Liter I4
- Transmission – CVT
- Output – 188 HP/ 180 LB-FT (FWD), 182 HP / 178 LB-FT (AWD)
- Fuel Economy – 26 MPG City / 36 MPG Highway / 30 MPG Combined (FWD), 25 MPG City / 33 MPG
- Highway / 28 MPG Combined
How Does The 2027 Altima Price Compare To Competitors?
The 2027 Nissan Altima is no longer one of the cheapest sedans on the market. The 2027 Kia K5, with an 186-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder, starts at $28,935, including the $1,245 destination charge. The sedan also comes with a traditional eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2027 Toyota Camry costs more, but not by much, and the sedan comes standard with a super-efficient hybrid powertrain. The entry-level LE trim can return up to 51 mpg combined with a $30,955 starting price.

The current, sixth-generation Nissan Altima is nearing its 10th birthday, making it one of the older sedans on the market. Sales for the sedan are down so far this year by 26.0 percent, with Nissan selling 56,424 Altimas through the first nine months of the year.
Toyota has sold 260,684 Camrys over the same period, but the Altima refuses to die.
