Within the next two years, Acura will launch three new SUVs in the US. One is the fourth-generation RDX, which the automaker has already confirmed will go on sale in 2028—but it won't be alone.

Acura shared its roadmap with US dealers today. Honda’s luxury brand will expand into segments where Acura doesn't currently compete, with two new models in development.

The first new Acura model to join the lineup in addition to the new RDX is an "adventure-ready" SUV. It will go on sale in the "first part of 2028." According to the automaker, the new model will “deliver the capability customers need for their outdoor adventures along with modern and premium styling.”

It will also offer the comfort and technology that customers expect from the brand. Acura provided no additional details beyond a teaser photo of the wheel, but we wouldn't be surprised if it is based on the Honda Passport. The second-generation SUV has been a huge sales success for the automaker.

Acura’s New Flagship SUV

A new eight-passenger SUV will also join Acura's lineup and slot above the seven-seat MDX. The company says it designed the new model, its largest ever, “to capture growing demand for more family-friendly vehicles in the premium space.”

While two of Acura’s new SUVs will arrive within two years, it is unclear when the larger SUV will arrive. A previous report alleged the model would enter production in 2029, with a Honda variant following a few years later.

Acura’s new flagship will likely feature Honda Motor’s new V6 hybrid powertrain currently in development for D-segment vehicles. The new hybrid setup will hit the market next year and feature "powerful driving performance and high towing capacity."

What’s Going On With The Rest Of Acura’s Lineup?

Right now, Acura offers four models, but that will drop to three for the 2027 model year. Acura has no RDX planned for the upcoming year, with the SUV taking a one-year hiatus before returning to market in 2028.

The new RDX will feature the automaker’s two-motor hybrid technology, making it the first Acura model to use it. Honda introduced an improved, fourth-generation version of the powertrain on the 2023 Accord and CR-V, and it is making even more updates to it for the 2027 model year.

The other three models, the Integra, ADX, and MDX, “will receive meaningful enhancements for the 2027 model year. The cars could get updated styling, new technology, and other tweaks, but buyers shouldn't expect major changes. Eiji Fujimura, president and CEO of American Honda, said:

‘We are making a big commitment to Acura by delivering products and services that meet the needs of our customers at all life stages, which will create a sustainable long-term direction for the brand.’
