- A new Roadster teaser shows a glowing full-width LED light bar.
- Tesla reopened Roadster reservations with a $50,000 refundable deposit.
- Tesla began delivering Semi trucks the week of September 24, 2026.
Tesla dropped a fresh teaser for the second-generation Roadster this week, and the image is doing exactly what a teaser should, raising questions without answering them. The clip zeroes in on a full-width LED light bar up front, seven days before the car's scheduled October 1 reveal in Waco, Texas.
The timing is not an accident. Tesla also confirmed it has started building Semi trucks in volume, a milestone Elon Musk has been promising since the truck's original 2017 unveiling. Two very different products, one busy week for Tesla's production and marketing calendars.
What The New Teaser Shows
The teaser itself is short on hardware detail and long on mood, a sliver of that LED bar glowing across the nose of a car still wrapped in shadow. It is consistent with Tesla's October 1 reveal date, confirmed weeks earlier, but it adds nothing about interior layout, battery size, or final styling.
What Musk has talked about publicly is stranger than any styling cue. He has floated SpaceX-derived cold-gas thrusters for the Roadster, with reports pointing to roughly 10 units mounted where rear seats would normally sit, meant to aid acceleration and cornering by manipulating airflow and weight transfer.
None of that is confirmed as production-ready. Musk has discussed the thruster concept in public over the past year, but Tesla has not published specifications, a price, or a delivery timeline tied to the feature. Treat it as a stated ambition.
Tesla has, however, put a number on getting in line, a $50,000 refundable deposit, reopened after a brief pause. That is the one concrete figure attached to the car right now, alongside the reveal date itself.

Semi Volume Production: What Musk Actually Confirmed
Tesla began delivering Semi trucks to an initial group of customers during the week of September 24, 2026, according to Reuters. At the rollout event, Musk called the Semi "revolutionary" and described it as "a sports car in truck form," tying the launch to record-high US diesel prices that he said make the economics work for fleet buyers.
Tesla reiterated a target of building 50,000 Semis annually at its Nevada facility, a plant spanning 1.8 million square feet, but the company did not disclose actual production volumes or pricing at the event.
Swedish logistics company Einride AB has ordered 500 Semis, with 75 units expected by the end of 2026, an early real-world test of whether Tesla can hit delivery promises at scale. The truck gets access to Tesla's Megacharger network and is slated to receive autonomous-driving features Tesla says are coming "in the very near future".
Morgan Stanley analyst Andrew Percoco estimated the Semi program could add roughly $80 billion to Tesla's market value in a bull-case scenario, a projection tied to freight economics rather than confirmed order books.

Motor1's Take: The teaser does more to spotlight Tesla's priorities than the Roadster's bodywork. The company is finally shipping a freight hauler that could move real revenue while it keeps the Roadster in the halo column with mood shots and a big deposit.
For now, that split makes sense. Fleet buyers judge the Semi on fuel savings and uptime, while sports car fans are being asked to buy into an idea that is still mostly promise. The October 1 reveal will show how much substance has caught up with the pitch.
