The Breakdown:

Tesla recently introduced a new, cheaper Cybertruck variant. With a starting price of $61,985 (all prices include the $1,995 destination fee), it's the cheapest Cybertruck to date and packs two electric motors with all-wheel drive. That said, the deal may not last.

According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, this ultra-affordable Cybertruck may only be around for the next few days. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk said that the $61,985 Cybertruck is available "only for the next 10 days." What happens to pricing after that is unclear.

Tesla's website says the new dual-motor Cybertruck has up to 325 miles of range and can hit 60 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds. It also has a max tow rating of 7,500 pounds and a 2,006-pound payload capacity when equipped with the 18-inch wheels.

Options include Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for $99 a month, and the 20-inch Core wheels cost an extra $2,500. There's even a Terrestrial Armor Package—which adds underbody protection and heavy-duty rock sliders—for an extra $3,000.

The new variant is $20,000 cheaper than the Premium model, which also has two motors and a 4.1-second 0-60 time. However, the mid-grade pickup has higher towing and payload ratings—11,000 lbs and 2,500 lbs, respectively.

Tesla also lowered the price of the Cyberbeast by $15,000 to $101,985. The Cyberbeast has three electric motors and a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds. The automaker raised the model’s price by $15,000 last August.

Motor1’s Take: The Tesla Cybertruck wasn’t the hit the automaker expected, with the truck launching far above the promised $40,000 price tag. This new variant is the cheapest Cybertruck yet, but it might not be enough to boost sales for the struggling model, especially if the price lasts only 10 days.
