Of course we love a good supercar at Motor1.com, and that's all fine and dandy – but when you think about it they aren’t all that super. A Ferrari 488 GTB might be able to crack 0-62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in three seconds, but it’s in no rush to carry a washing machine to the tip or tackle a series of speed bumps on the school run. Go on a week's camping holiday with the family? Forget about it.

What do you think?

The real art in creating performance cars isn't about whacking a huge engine in a sleek body – anyone can do that. Shoe-horning a crazy powertrain into something a little more sensible, now that's a challenge.

If you’re looking for serious speed that even the dog can enjoy, then you’re going to need one of these sensible wagons. Far from what a geography teacher might drive, here are the 10 fastest load-luggers to 62 mph (100 kph).
